Belgian M55 Paracommando Backpack, Surplus. A rugged backpack crafted from thick cotton canvas, built for Belgian paratroopers. This highly functional design replicates the French Mle 55 pattern, originating from the early 1960s, during the dissolution of Belgian colonial authority in the Congo. In the 1970s, these backpacks were made from a PVC type of material.
The backpack features a main compartment measuring approximately 32 x 37 x 12 cm, with two spacious flap-covered side pockets that fit standard field water bottles. An A4-sized pocket with a flap closure is located against the back for easy access. Sturdy long straps on the bottom are ideal for securing a sleeping pad, sleeping bag, or tent. The shoulder straps are made from 5 cm wide cotton webbing and include adjustable upper sections. A robust flap with adjustable straps covers the main compartment, ensuring safety and accessibility. Made from thick cotton fabric.
Condition: used surplus, showing color variations and wear from use and storage, including some storage odor, but otherwise intact.
