Insect Repellent with DEET Active Ingredient
Care Plus® DEET is the most effective insect repellent for skin application. The active ingredient is effective against a range of pathogens, including malaria mosquitoes and ticks. DEET provides protection for up to 10 hours, preventing bites and stings. The use of DEET is recommended in travel destinations where there is a risk of malaria, dengue fever, Zika virus, Chikungunya, yellow fever, or West Nile virus. DEET is suitable for all locations, near and far from home. The percentage of DEET determines its duration of effectiveness.
The active ingredient DEET is particularly effective against biting insects and ticks. DEET is most effective against (tropical) mosquitoes and ticks. The percentage indicates how long it acts.

Apply DEET first to your palms and then to your face. Keep this in mind if you purchased this product recently.
What is DEET?
DEET stands for N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide. The name has recently been replaced with N,N-Diethyl-3-methylbenzamide, but you may encounter both names. Care Plus® DEET is available in concentrations of 50% as a cream and spray, 40% spray, and 30% as spray and gel.
Care Plus® recommends a 30-50% DEET concentration. Insect repellents below 30% concentration are not sufficiently effective, and concentrations above 50% do not provide additional benefits. For proper protection, it's essential to apply Care Plus® DEET to all exposed skin.
“Best Tested Product” according to consumer panels
Care Plus® DEET spray was awarded the title of “Best Tested Product” by the Consumer Association of the Netherlands in 1997 and by the Belgian Consumer Association (Test-Aankoop) in 2001. Care Plus® DEET cream received a “GOOD” rating from the German Stiftung Warentest in 2004 (50% cream), and Care Plus® DEET gel also earned the title of “Best Tested Product” in 2005 in the test by the Consumer Association of the Netherlands.
Usage Warning for DEET 40%!
NOTE! Unfortunately, there is a mistake on the Finnish label of the DEET 40% spray. The packaging incorrectly states that the product should be sprayed directly onto the face, which is incorrect.
