Top Quilt Bushmen Camp-Quilt Glow L +5 C, 200 cm. A versatile camping accessory that can quickly transform into a top quilt for hammocks, sleeping bag liner, or a double-sized camping blanket. It can also serve as an extra layer of warmth when using a sleeping bag or a ground sheet. This three-season down-filled quilt is an excellent choice for lightweight campers who value comfort while sleeping in various locations. The product name +5 degrees refers to the comfort temperature. Tolerance to specific temperatures varies by individual, but it is assumed that your sleeping pad or ground sheet has equivalent thermal values or higher.
Quilts are generally about 20% lighter than sleeping bags with similar features. The concept of quilts is based on the idea that there is no point in placing insulation behind the back, as it flattens under the weight of the sleeper, losing its insulating properties. The real insulation from below comes from your sleeping pad or, alternatively, a ground sheet when sleeping in a hammock.
When using with a sleeping pad, many use the elastic bands provided with the product to secure the quilt to the pad. The elastic bands can also join the edges of the quilt together on the back side, forming a 'mummy-style' sleeping bag. There are small loops along the quilt's edges for the elastic bands.
At the foot of the top quilt, there is a zipper that, when closed, forms a foot chamber. The zipper is secured in place with a snap button, and the area around the snap is reinforced from the fabric's reverse side. At the lower edge, there is a drawstring channel that tightens to create a closed foot end.
Down Collar and Use
By tightening the drawstring at the top of the channel, you create a down collar that protects you from cold and wind. Close the snap at the top. Slip your head through the formed hole and tighten the drawstring enough to form a collar around your neck. This collar provides protection for the back of your neck, throat, and shoulders.
As a Camping Blanket
It can be used as a two-person camping blanket when fully spread out. Open the zipper and snaps, loosen the drawstrings on both ends, creating a blanket that measures 135 cm x 200 cm or 220 cm depending on the model.
This camping gear does not need to be stored in a closet; you can use it as a regular down blanket on your own bed or as a guest blanket when needed.
Stuff Sack
The stuff sack is made of the same ultralight fabric used for the quilt itself. The opening features two separate drawstring channels to tighten and close the sack. Stuff the quilt into the sack while supporting the bottom of the sack against your feet to prevent the seams from being overstressed. The sack's bottom includes a handle that makes it easier to remove the quilt from the sack.
Dimensions and Compartmentalization
The Bushmen Camp Quilt +5 is 135 cm wide and either 200 cm or 220 cm long, depending on the model. The quilt features a total of 19 compartments, which are H-compartmentalized.
Fabrics and Other Materials
The quilt's fabrics are 22 g ultralight nylon with Durable Water Repellency (DWR) treatment. The fabric also incorporates very thin reinforcement fibers visible as small squares on the fabric surface. This reinforcement in the fabric is referred to as micro-ripstop.
The fabrics are durable and tight yet breathable enough to allow moisture from the body to evaporate through the fabric. In down products, it is crucial that the fabrics are dense enough to prevent down from escaping.
Insulation with certified recycled goose down
The fill is globally acclaimed Polish goose down. The down is lightweight, compresses to a small size, and provides outstanding insulation. The down used by Bushmen is always certified and additionally, it is recycled down.
Colors and Their Uses
The Camp Quilt is two-toned, one side bright orange, and the other dark green. The green color blends into nature, while the orange serves as a good visibility color, or just a vibrant colorful option. If you need to attract attention to yourself, spread the quilt +5 in a visible place to be seen from afar.
Separate Tensioning Elastic Bands
The product contains two 1.25 m long elastic bands with tensioning clips at the ends. These same tensioning clips are also used in Bushmen’s Thermo Blankets and Glow ground sheets.
If you plan to sleep on a sleeping pad in a tent or under a tarp, it's advisable to secure the Quilt +5 to the sleeping pad using the loops along the edges with the provided elastic bands.
