Top Quilt Bushmen Camp-Quilt Glow XL +5 C, 220 cm. A versatile camping tool that can quickly transform into a top quilt for hammocks, sleeping pads, or a two-person trek blanket. It can also serve as an additional layer of warmth for a sleeping bag or under quilt. This three-season down-filled quilt is an excellent choice for lightweight backpackers who value comfort while sleeping in various locations. The product name +5 degrees indicates comfort temperature. Individual tolerance to temperature varies, but it is assumed that your sleeping pad or under quilt matches or exceeds warmth ratings.
Quilts are generally about 20% lighter than comparable sleeping bags with similar specifications. The concept behind the quilt is that there is no point in placing insulation on your backside, as it gets compressed beneath the sleeper, losing its insulating properties. The real insulation below comes from the sleeping pad or, alternatively, the under quilt when sleeping in a hammock.
When used with a sleeping pad, many users utilize the elastic bands provided with the product to attach the quilt to the pad. These bands can also connect the quilt edges together from the back, creating a “mummy-style” sleeping bag. Small loops for elastic bands are located along the edges of the quilt.
At the foot of the top quilt, a zipper creates a foot pocket when closed. The zipper's integrity is secured with a snap button, and the area around the snap is reinforced on the fabric's underside. At the lower edge, the foot section features a drawstring channel that cinches shut when tightened.
Down Neck Gaiter and Its Use
By tightening the drawstring in the neck channel, you create a down neck gaiter that protects you from cold and wind. Close the snap button at the top. Slide your head through the formed opening and tighten the drawstring enough to create a neck gaiter around your head. This neck gaiter protects your neck, collar, and shoulders.
As a Trek Blanket
Can be used as a two-person trek blanket when fully opened. Open the zipper and snaps, loosen the drawstrings at both ends, creating a blanket size of 135 cm x 200 cm or 220 cm, depending on the model.
This camping gear requires no special storage; you can use it as a regular down comforter on your bed or turn it into a guest blanket when needed.
Packing Bag
The packing bag is made from the same ultralight fabric as the quilt itself. It features two separate drawstring channels that tighten to close the bag's opening. Stuff the quilt into the bag while supporting the bottom of the packing bag against your legs, preventing seams from experiencing excessive pressure. The bag's base includes a handle that makes it easier to remove the quilt from the packing bag.
Dimensions and Compartments
The Bushmen Camp-Quilt +5 is 135 cm wide with lengths of either 200 cm or 220 cm, depending on the model. The quilt includes a total of 19 compartments arranged in an H pattern.
Fabrics and Other Materials
The quilt fabrics are 22 g ultralight nylon with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatment. Additionally, the fabric is woven with ultra-thin reinforcement fibers visible as small squares on the fabric surface, known as micro-ripstop.
The fabrics are durable and tightly woven yet breathable enough to allow moisture from the body to escape through the fabric. In products filled with down, it is critical that fabrics are tight enough to prevent the down from escaping.
Insulation Made from Certified Recycled Goose Down
The filling is globally acclaimed Polish goose down. This down is lightweight, compresses to a small size, and offers top-notch insulation. The down used by Bushmen is always certified and includes recycled down.
Colors and Their Uses
The Camp Quilt features a two-tone design with one side bright orange and the other dark green. The green color blends into nature while the orange side serves as a great attention-grabbing color or simply adds a lively touch. If you need to attract attention, spread the quilt +5 in a visible location to be noticed from afar.
Separate Tension Straps
The product includes two 1.25 m long elastic bands with tensioning buckles at the ends. These same tensioning buckles are also used in Bushmen's Thermo Blankets and Glow under quilts.
If you plan to sleep on a sleeping pad inside a tent or under a tarp, it is advisable to secure the Quilt +5 to the sleeping pad using the loops on the edges and the included elastic bands.
