Alpaca Wool Socks Nakku, Grey. Extremely warm and soft socks made from alpaca wool with a non-constricting cuff. The sock's leg is smooth knit with a broader ribbed fold to prevent tightness. Alpaca wool is significantly weaker in wear and abrasion resistance compared to sheep wool, making these soft alpaca socks ideally suited for sleeping and lounge wear. Additionally, alpaca wool is devoid of lanolin, making it suitable for many wool allergies.
Alpaca wool has excellent thermal insulation ability. The fibers from the alpaca, a member of the llama family, are long and offer better insulation than sheep wool. Alpaca wool is said to be seven times warmer than sheep wool. The yarn from alpaca is smooth and extremely soft, derived from the finest fur of camelids. Alpacas are primarily raised in South America, thriving in mountainous regions and highlands.
With high tensile strength, alpaca fur is warm, lightweight, and durable. Alpacas live partly wild, domesticated, and herded, with free-roaming animals sheared every other year, while farm-raised alpacas can be sheared twice a year. Alpaca wool products are processed and cared for similarly to sheep wool products.
Avoid excessive washing of alpaca wool socks; airing them out is often sufficient.
