Wool is a warm and breathable material. Sheep wool has excellent utility properties, as it breathes and efficiently insulates heat. It is a self-renewing and biodegradable natural fiber that absorbs moisture well, resists wrinkling, and straightens quickly. Sometimes wool products require airing instead of washing. Wool is naturally fire-resistant and well resistant to bacteria and mold.
Sheep wool is the oldest textile fiber sourced from animals. There are around 200 breeds of sheep that produce various types of wool. Only eco-friendly and responsibly sourced Nativa™ certified merino wool is used in the manufacture of socks. Merino sheep are solely wool producers, and their wool is softer and finer than regular sheep wool. All merino wool socks are also mulesing-free.
When selecting the size of merino wool socks, note that a 3-5% shrinkage allowance has been knitted into them. It is advisable to wash the socks before first use to ensure they fit properly. Merino wool terry models are also slightly wider at the foot than normal sizing. For terry models, a suitable size may be one size smaller than usual.
