DD Hammock XL Underquilt, 2.3 x 1.2 m, Olive Green. This Extra Long Underquilt is designed for taller individuals and larger hammocks or to cover more area beneath your hammock.
The DD Underquilt is now available in a longer size that fits perfectly with extended hammocks. The longer model is also a great choice when you want the underquilt to cover a larger space beneath your hammock. The DD Underquilt is suitable for use in temperatures down to -5°C. Keep in mind, the level of comfort in specific temperatures can vary per individual. A sleeping bag with adequate cold resistance is also essential.
How does the long underquilt work?
When you lie in your hammock, your body weight compresses your clothing and sleeping bag against the hammock, causing a loss of thermal insulation. The underquilt, with its air pockets, creates an insulating layer that is warmed by your body heat.
In hammock camping, the cold often comes from below, making the underquilt even more important than the sleeping bag or top quilt. The DD Underquilt XL is set up to hang loosely beneath the hammock. The underquilt should "hug" the hammock gently. It should not be installed too tightly, meaning it shouldn't be too close to the hammock.
